Teaching #2 - We’re Responsible for Our Dissatisfaction
That’s right, kids. We can’t blame our parents for everything.
We experience dissatisfaction throughout our lifetime due to our cravings and desires, our desire to stop the cycle we described above.
We think, “Crap… why can’t things just stay the same for a while?”
Our primary desire as humans is to be at peace. But we find it difficult to achieve this when the endless highs and lows keep dogging us. So, most of us engage in activities that temporarily make us feel better.
We make endless purchases from Amazon or other online retailers
We post to social media to get a little dose of dopamine when someone notices us
We drown ourselves in substances that provide a temporary escape…
Spoiler Alert: Unfortunately, we find ourselves back where we started when the substance/excitement wears off.
Because we’re human, we’ll do almost anything to escape the cycle of dissatisfaction.
But sooner or later, we have to own our shit.
It’s no one’s fault that we suffer; that’s too easy.
No, we create most of our dissatisfaction, and that’s where the third truth comes into play…
The truth of how to escape our continual sense of dissatisfaction.
